Mocking Law

December 16th, 2009

Funny how something as serious and grave as law and regulation guiding a country can be played with…and not just played, but defeated virtually and victory celebrated. A law firm that claims to work for social welfare takes an educational organization to court on baseless charges, and expects “justice” that they want-lots and lots of money.

The background of this case is that Googasian-the law firm in question- takes Belford High School-a prior learning based degree awarding body-to Us court on the charges of scam and being involved in fraudulent practices.

Now, a legal firm would obviously know the basic rule of jurisdiction and the limitation it presents courts with when it comes to accepting cases. Googasian took Belford to Michigan courts without doing any basic research-and thus not being aware of the fact that Belford is not a US organization!

Moreover, the terms and conditions on the website clearly state that the degree being awarded is based on the experience letters and other validating documentation that is provided by the student; and in case the documents are misleading in anyway, the degree is nullified immediately. With stringent verification process, this is a far fetched possibility but still it is catered to on the website. This fact totally negates the possibility of scam.

With such basic flaws in Googasian’s theory against Belford, a lawsuit is nothing but a joke. Or maybe competitor’s propaganda to defame and harass Belford and harm it’s student’s potential employment prospects. The list of petty motives can go on and on, but regardless of the reason, the firm should face music for it’s reckless actions!
