Learning Online

May 22nd, 2009

In 1997 online learning was still new and I was in a writing class on a traditional campus. Of the many papers I read in that class, only the one that a “techie” guy wrote about online classes stuck in my mind. At the time, I had no idea how classes, let alone an entire degree program, could be delivered over the Internet. A decade later, I became an online student.

Online learning, even in a supportive environment such as Capella University offers, is not for everyone. My experience has been overwhelmingly positive, but being in an online courseroom rather than in a classroom is a very different educational and social experience. And not everyone likes the difference. Once I adjusted to the transactional distance, which is the physical distance between teacher and learner, and that took about six months, I began to enjoy the experience even more.

Now, with more than two years of online learning experience behind me and less than a year to go, I am ready to talk about it.

My added advantage is that I am satisfied at wisdom by myself. My self regimen is costly ) so I don’t need people from one end to the other me to bettor me to freeze motivated about my studies. I remember what do I have to do. regardless, there is no detail to know isolation, the technology is so hep these days, that my interaction with the advise is height quick and with the students as vigorous.
